New Years resolution or intentions? What is the difference? I had to look into this.. So many people I speak to seem to not like the idea of a New Years Resolution (Why should you decide to give something up at the beginning of the New Year when you can do it anytime?) Well I hear you, but I think its great to begin a New New Year with new goals and resolutions.

It's an opportunity to reflect on last year. A lot of people find reflection hard and setting goals intimidating. Don't worry, I've been there! I've also thought it was a waste of time, I wasn't going to stick to a resolution so what is the point!!

Well there is a point... we can always better ourselves and we can always challenge ourselves and what better time to do this but at the start of a new chapter..


So back to the point of this... the difference between a resolution and intention..

Resolutions are often focused on smaller goals like trying to maintain good posture, exercising more or cutting down on sugar. But an intention has a broader focus and “often has to do with relationships, careers, self-improvement or a larger call to action, such as travel.

Think about if you would like to set an intention or a resolution for 2023. Just remember you don't have to give up something.. maybe you want to work on being more mindful, being more present, spend more time with family and friends.


Now Let's start with our reflection of 2022.


A great way to reflect is to take 10 minutes to yourself and just sit and reflect on the year, take a pen and piece of paper or write it on your phone notes.

What has been your greatest achievement this year?

What is my favourite memory this year?

What ten things am I grateful for this year?


Now lets move to our intention..


What is your intention for 2023...

Pop this intention somewhere, write it down and on your calendar pick a date and write your intention every month on this date. This will now remind you throughout the year of your intention.


Your life, right now, is controlled by your habits. And there are habits that put you in a positive, strong, empowering state of mind - and habits that put you in a less supportive, sometimes even destructive state of mind. Lets create habits that help you grow.
